New Year... New Name.. New Me!

I am always the first to offer my opinion for a suggestion when it comes to others problems. With my own situation... I'm not so good on ripping that ole band aid right off!

For a while I have been itching to have a fresh start at so many things in life. I have gone through a total transformation with my own self (I have currently lost over 100 pounds & still going strong!)

I wanted to totally change the identity of my photography, I felt the name in many ways did not suit me, my brand or the client base that I wanted to reach. Much like all of the clothes that I have been recently retiring lately Curly Gurlz Photography is a name that was ready for retirement as well.

Don't get me wrong, I love the name... I will love the time that it represented in my my life and of course, I'll always be a Curly Headed Girl but it comes back to Shakespeare.. "what is in a name?"

A lot as I have found out recently!

My friend Kim and I used to shoot together, we both were curly headed girls. She and I both have our own styles and work separately, so walking around calling my studio "gurlz" is pretty silly considering for the most part... it is just "This Gurl!"

(If you know me you can almost seeing me doing the two thumb point back at myself at this point.)

Over the course of the past two or so years, the work has been all me. Why not put my own seal of approval on it.

Next step... Which name do I use? My name is hyphenated, did I happen to mention two of the longest last names in the world? (at least when they are hyphenated)

So after days and days of going back and forth on which name or combo of names to use I looked at my hubs over dinner and said, "do you like Ree Cochrane Photography?" He said yes.... but. There is always a but at times like these!

He said the answer is plain as day, why not use Sherí Taylor Photography?

Lightning Strike moment!

For 15 years I built up a brand with my name on the radio and TV. It is a name that is easy to say, easy to remember and quite frankly the branding is already there. Even though I fill in from time to time, people still know me from being on-air and some still think that I am.

Not ready to trust this just yet. I get out the trusty iPhone and text my girl Lizz (who is also a radio chic) and ask what she thinks. Instant reply, "I always wondered why you didn't use that from the get go!"   Pretty much the same answer from Amy, my other radio buddy, too!

So for the past 7+ years no one has bothered to bring this tidbit up to me? Also the fact that I didn't come up with it on my own is shocking.

Without further ado.... starting March 1st, 2013-- the studio will be called Sherí Taylor Photography.

Traffic, News & Weather updates cost extra!

Now to answer the question everyone asks anyone in radio... No! I can't get you XYZ concert tickets.

I had to buy my own. You can do the same!

I however am always available to photograph you or your family.
